I Can Lead 2.0

Project ‘I Can Lead’, is a youth-led initiative which aims to strengthen the leadership and decision making capacity of young girls of age group 14-22 years in sectors of Civic Engagement and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Challenging the deeply rooted patriarchal psychology which considers female as an incapable leader, our project will work directly with a total of 30 young girls, 20 girls from Kathmandu Valley and 10 young girls of the same age group from Kailali district. These 30 young girls will be the primary beneficiaries of our project ‘I Can Lead'.

Pani Padhero

Our Project ‘Pani Padhero’ was carried out in Kathmandu district of Province -3 also known as Bagmati Province. Within the capital city Kathmandu there are many slum residents who reside under precarious conditions in squatter settlements along the bank of Bagmati river. Among many high-risk communities to COVID-19 infection, Thapathali slum community is one of the heavily concentrated slum squatters of Kathmandu with each cluster having made up of 50 to 300 families living together. So, to increase the capacity of slum community of Thapathali in fighting against water-borne diseases caused by poor sanitation and hygiene and to instill healthy wash behavior among the targeted groups, project 'Pani Padhero' worked with 100 slum families of Thapathali by establishing two hand washing stations and provided awareness to the community members from these families targeting issues of lack of knowledge of proper sanitation and hygiene among slum communities.

I Can Lead

Project ‘I Can Lead’ aims to break the cycle of ‘Girls can’t be Leaders’, work to challenge and eradicate the psychological stigma which considers girl/women lack in political leadership and decision making capacity by bringing awareness to the youngest age groups of girls i.e. from 14-20 years. Our project aims to aware, engage, educate and empower 30 young girls from Province-3 and Province-7 (Far-western province) about female representation, knowledge in leadership and decision-making, democracy, good governance, electoral procedures and encouraging them to carry out research-based work where they will analyze and help to promote the condition of girl leadership, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and formal quality education for girls in their community.
